We welcome submissions in the following categories: essays, narrative nonfiction, fiction, poetry, and interviews.
We encourage writers at all stages of their careers to send us their work. Politics/Letters is especially eager to see work from BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and writers with other backgrounds or from other communities that are underrepresented in literary media.
We accept pitches for essays and reported pieces, though we encourage you to submit full drafts if you are able. This gives us a better opportunity to understand your idea and to see how the piece might fit in with the rest of our content.
Interview proposals will only be considered if the writer themselves can establish contact with the interviewee.
Fiction and narrative nonfiction submissions should be between 4,000 and 10,000 words.
Poetry submissions should consist of no more than five poems. There is no lower limit for poetry submissions.
Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but we ask you to tell us as soon as possible if you place your submitted piece elsewhere.
We offer a small honorarium for each piece we publish.
Please allow us 6 to 10 weeks to get back to you about your submission. We’re a small operation with limited resources. We appreciate your patience!
All submissions should be sent in .docx format to: Robbins.bruce at gmail.com
